Want to learn more about our high speed internet service, or fiber in general?
Below are some frequently asked questions, but for more info, please contact us!

What is a fiber-optic network?

Fiber is more versatile than copper wiring, and is lighter, more flexible, more durable and able to handle upgraded speeds without needing to be replaced. Ellum Net uses Fiber to the Premise (FTTP) technology, which creates a 100% fiber-optic network with the fastest speeds available.

What is bandwidth?

Bandwidth is the measure of how fast data can transfer. Also referred to as bitrate, bandwidth evaluates how quickly and efficiently an infrastructure can transmit data. Generally, this means that the higher the bandwidth, the faster your internet connection.

How much bandwidth do I need?

Depending on how heavily you use the internet, the more bandwidth you’ll need. Things like online video streaming, high definition television and fast-paced content like sporting events all use high amounts of bandwidth.

Will I get all the bandwidth I paid for?

While many cable, DSL and wireless providers oversubscribe their networks, leading to reduced speeds for many users, Ellum Net guarantees that you'll get the minimum speed you signed up for. Because of oversubscription and congestion, many networks can have bandwidth shortages at peak times like early evening. This is not the case with Ellum Net - You’ll get high speeds, all the time.
